When I was of the age when all of my friends were meeting their life partners, dating and experiencing the awesomeness and excitement of finding the love of their lives, knowing that they had met their lasting soulmate ... I felt something was missing.
Yes, on the outside, one could never have realized that behind the mask of a happy, social, funny, open, self-assured person was this scared, timid, untrusting 5-year old me, reliving the trauma from what was supposed to have been a standard medical procedure.
This turned me from a confident, wise, strong and cheeky girl into a self-doubting, emotionally fragile, anxious and serious version of myself.
(not that I would let anyone see this) Years later, this incident prevented me from fully feeling, connecting, trusting...
You see, it took me a long time and years of therapy (psychotherapy, gestalt, writing and drawing therapy. I tried affirmations, visualisations. I read books, I learnt manifestation techniques. I studied metaphysics) hoping that somehow I would be able to free myself, speak my truth, attract my soulmate and create a dream life together.
